Extra Innings Rewards Little League Player
20-Dec-2011 AUBURN, Mass. - Local business owner Doug Kemp of Extra Innings, a state-of-the-art indoor baseball and softball training facility, can attest to the importance of philanthropy and goodwill within a community.
For the past four years, Extra Innings has been the premier sponsor of the Jimmy Fund Little League Program, a New England charity that benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. More than 5,000 Little League baseball and softball players participate to raise funds for the program.
Extra Innings provides all participating teams with coach’s ball buckets, score books and hats, in addition to giving a coach’s clinic to the Little League district that raises the most money and a Grand Slam membership to the individual player who raises the most money at their nearest Extra Innings location.
This year, Vincent Pascale of the Westborough Little League raised $3,000 for the Jimmy Fund and was awarded a Grand Slam membership to the Auburn location which includes a one year membership, free enrollment in one clinic, five private lessons with professional instructors, 10 percent off Pro Shop purchases, half hour weekly hitting tunnel rental and unlimited use of the training room. The prize is valued around $500.
According Kemp, the Westborough Little League raised approximately $30,000.
“We’re proud to be involved with such an amazing initiative that not only provides support for local Little Leaguers, but also for cancer research and treatment,” Kemp said.
“We extend a warm welcome to Vincent and look forward to providing him with the top-notch instruction we’re known for.”
